# get_date

> One date → Cosmic card plus calendars, moon, season, retrogrades, and related systems.

One date in → the **Cosmic card** for that date plus layered systems: tarot (minor + **dual major** Greer and Tarot School), medicine, Lenormand, runes, ogham, geomancy, sidereal wheels, moon phase, season, retrogrades, **weekday planetary ruler** (`day_ruler`), **karmic source/spirit**, **14 planetary Life-spread cards**, and more.

That phrase calls `get_date` and tells the **agent** to paste the tool result verbatim (not summarize). There is still only one tool input: `date`. “Raw JSON” and “full payload” are the same object.

The sample below is a **shortened teaching excerpt** (values from a live call). A full tool response for the same date includes every block (`medicine`, `lenormand`, full `astro_wheels`, full `retrogrades_active`, and the rest).

Deck faces on the Cosmic `card_no` include **`cosmic`**, **`tarot`** (minor map), **`medicine`**, and **`lenormand`** — each a sibling object (one Lenormand object beside `cosmic`, never nested under it). Sibling **`iching`** carries hexagram identity plus `upper_trigram` / `lower_trigram` / `yin_yang_code` / `seq_no` / `binary_no` / `sign_no`. Major Arcana methods live under wire key **`tarot_majors`** with **both** methods every call: **`greer`** (Mary K. Greer — common default) and **`tarot_school`** (Amberstone). Cultural glyph systems include **`norse_runes`**, **`celtic_ogham`**, and **`geomancy`**. The `retrogrades_active` array in this sample is shortened; a live response includes major planets, asteroids, TNPs, and points. A full response carries \~30 systems for one date.

**Cosmic card identity:** the date’s Cosmic card is the same card as birth / life / sun. Live JSON may list those aliases under `cosmic.also_called` and `planetary_spread.sun` — one card, not three.

## Out of published range

Dates outside 1900–2100 do not crash the tool. The **Cosmic card** still resolves from month/day (same card as birth / life / sun).

## Planetary spread order (`spread_pos`)

`cosmic.planetary_spread` is a **keyed object** (planet name → slot). JSON object key order is **not** reliable — clients and gateways may reshuffle keys. Each slot carries **`spread_pos`** (integer **1–14**) = Life-spread order from `cosmic_planets.sort_no`.

**Consumer rule:** sort slots by `spread_pos` ascending. Do not rely on `Object.keys()` / iteration order.

Same field on [`get_compatibility`](/tools/get-compatibility) for Cosmic card A / B (`….cosmic.planetary_spread` on each side’s date profile). `retrogrades_active` is already an **ordered array** — no `spread_pos` there.

<a id="day-ruler" />

## Day ruler (weekday planetary ruler)

Weekday planetary ruler ships on **`get_date`** when `temporal_context.payload_scope` is `full` (published **1900–2100** and extended pad years). Out-of-range Cosmic-card-only calls omit `day_ruler`.

**Ask:**

**Norse Saturday:** `norse.deity` is **`null`** on Saturdays (*laugardagr* / bath day has no deity). That is the only sanctioned `null` in a public payload — see [Field glossary](/field-glossary).
